TEDx talk and dance performance 2014

TEDx talk and dance performance by Nicole Barrote

I trained at University of Oregon in ballet, hip hop, and ballroom. Following college I sought more cultural styles of dance in various countries: Salsa (in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Peru, Tango in Argentina, Chile & Spain, Steel Drum Dancing in Jamaica, and Tahitian hula and Poi (in Hawaii). I love and appreciate every type of dance.
Currently the Latin dances, especially Salsa, have been my focus. I moved to San Diego to surf by day and Salsa by night! Turns out I’m a terrible surfer, yet enjoy being among world class Latin dancers. Living in San Diego has given me the opportunity to collaborate, work, and perform as a professional dancer and develop new dance choreography specific to the emotional connection of the dancers, styling, musicality, and syncopation.

I continue to seek new experiences that help me become a better student, teacher, and performer!
